About the Couple
Raj and Mohinder Sanghera met on February 12th, 1999 a few days
before his older brothers wedding, in UK. They noticed each other at the wedding but
didn't get a chance to speak or exchange phone numbers. He only knew that she worked for
Bank of Montreal in British Columbia, Canada. He called up a few branches in the Vancouver
division and was put on hold for hours at a time. He finally reached a branch where the
operator said she had heard of Raj and told him that she worked in a different district.
She gave him Raj's contact number and when he called, she got too nervous, informed him
she was busy and hung up. He called a few hours later and asked her where he could contact
her so that they could talk. And their love story started that day.....
Wedding Planning with
WeddingSutra.com
When Lakhvir, Raj's sister found out that her sister Raj's marriage will be solemnised in
Mumbai, she realised it was not going to be easy planning a wedding across continents.
Thats when she turned to WeddingSutra.com. Lakhvir and Raj used the
website for everything- from finding a wedding venue to window shopping for the wedding
trousseau. After weeks of online interaction with WeddingSutra, Raj and her two sisters
came to India 20 days before the wedding. WeddingSutra consultants met the bride and her sisters to understand
their needs, budget and style.

find the outfits and jewellery for various ceremonies. |
WeddingSutra arranged for meetings
with jewellery and outfit designers Poonam Soni, Payal Singhal, Krishna Mehta, Amber &
Shirin, Deepika Gehani, Shoba Somani, Pria Kataria Puri and Sujata Kothari . The bride and
her sister were also on the lookout for Unique Services
and other interesting bridal paraphernalia that would not be easily available abroad. So
WeddingSutra arranged for appointments with ace nail stylist Bhavna Shah, floral jewellery
designer Dolly Thakkar, bindis specialist Seema Loyalka and trousseau packing specialist
Abha Desai. The bride was most delighted when WeddingSutra arranged for a special meeting
with the owner of Tip Top Jewellery, where they spent half a day picking a host of Kundan
wear stuff- from bindis, churis, imitation jewellery et al.
After days of hectic shopping trips, makeovers and meetings, Raj and her bridesmaids had
put together the look they wanted with a little help from WeddingSutra. Raj's evening outfit was designed with the "help" of Aman Batra
from Frontier Cloth House.

The make-up was done by
Mallika Bhat and the mehendi by Jayshree Doshi. Raj had never seen Mallika's work nor did
she have time for a trial so her only references were Mallika's earlier work. Says
Mallika: "Raj is one of the most beautiful brides I have ever worked on. Since she
wore a gorgeous coral orange color outfit, to complement the outfit, I gave her eyes an
orange and gold touch. She wanted a hairstyle with which she could move around easily and
stay relaxed, so I put up a messy updo."
